Week 34: 4/22 - 4/26
I apologize for not keeping up with the website over the last couple of weeks! Here's what we've been up to in writing!
Prior to last week we had been practicing responding to writing prompts that mirror questions or prompts they might have seen on the AIR test. We worked identifying the purpose of our writing and creating an outline or a plan for our response. We then used that plan to write an introduction sentence, two RACE answers (using evidence from the text), and a conclusion sentence. We also worked on checking our answers for COPS before submitting our work.
This coming week we will be piloting a new curriculum series for Reading and Writing. The Writing will be paired with the reading lessons for each day and will be different than what we have done in writing in the past. We will be evaluating mentor texts and examples of informational writing, before creating our own informational pieces.
We will continue with our spelling routine this week. Spelling list 27 was sent home Thursday, April 18th along with the spelling test results from List 26. We will be learning and practicing our spelling words each day in the classroom but students are also expected to practice and memorize their spelling words at home. Students can log on to https://www.spellingcity.com/jelefevre (you do not need to sign into an account) to find their spelling list and practice their spelling words using the free games on the website. Feel free to email me, Miss LeFevre, if you have questions about spelling.
